We strongly recommend hiring a car if you plan to explore Crete. While public buses easily connect us to Chania town center, having a car gives you total freedom to reach world-famous beaches like Elafonisi, Balos & Falasarna, discover quiet mountain villages, and set your own pace without being tied to bus timetables.
Pass through downtown Chania heading west onto the Old National Road (Kissamou Street) toward Agia Marina and Platanias.
Drive 2½ km west from Chania center along the main road. Turn left onto Omirou Street (opposite AB Vasilopoulos Supermarket) - on the main road, you will see the stone wall and the Lefka Apartments sign.
We sit directly opposite the AB Vasilopoulos Supermarket and local Ecohome store, right next to Germaniko Pouli bus stop #74379.
Public transit in Crete is split between two separate bus networks: regional intercity coaches (KTEL) and local city buses.
• From Chania Airport (CHQ): Take the KTEL airport shuttle coach directly to the
main Chania Bus Station (~30 mins).
• From Heraklion, Rethymno & Other Cities: Take the intercity KTEL coach directly to the
Chania KTEL Bus Station .
• Final Leg to Lefka: From the central station, transfer to local blue city Bus #15 (departs right next door at Zimvrakakidon) or Bus #21 (departs from 1866 square), or catch a short taxi ride (€8–12 to Lefka Apartments).
Local blue city buses connect Lefka Apartments directly with Chania town center and nearby beaches every 15–20 minutes.
• Bus #15: Departs from Zimvrakakidon Terminal (Stop #74005) (right next to main bus station).
• Bus #21: Departs from 1866 Square Terminal (Stop #74003) (Platia 1866).
• Bus Stop: Disembark at Stop #74379 (Germaniko Pouli) Pin in front of AB Supermarket.
• Tickets & Fares: Single tickets cost €1.30 one-way per person (free for children up to 6) at kiosks, by card/phone on the bus, or directly at Lefka Apartments. Driver cash cost is €2.30.

Crete is connected daily to mainland Greece (Piraeus/Athens) and surrounding Aegean islands.
Daily overnight sailings connect Piraeus (Athens) to Souda Port via ANEK Lines and Blue Star Ferries. Journey time is roughly 8–9 hours, arriving early morning (5:00–6:30 AM).
Heraklion port offers connections to Piraeus with Minoan Lines and Superfast Ferries. High-speed catamarans (e.g., SeaJets, Hellenic Seaways) also connect Heraklion to Santorini and the Cyclades during summer.
Book Tickets: Check live ferry schedules via Ferryscanner, Ferries.gr, or OpenSeas.
